Arts for Wellbeing

At Hocus Pocus Theatre, we believe in the transformative power of creativity. Our Arts for Wellbeing programmes are designed to nurture joy, confidence, connection and self-expression — using theatre, play and imagination as powerful tools for wellbeing.

We deliver inclusive workshops and performances for people of all ages and abilities, creating safe, welcoming spaces where everyone can participate at their own pace. Our work is grounded in a person-centred ethos and trauma-informed practice, ensuring every session is built on compassion, respect and gentle curiosity. We meet people where they are — empowering them to explore, express, and engage through the arts in ways that feel meaningful and uplifting.

Creative Practice for Wellbeing

Our work champions the arts as a vital contributor to wellbeing. Whether through storytelling, puppetry, clowning, movement, or sensory theatre, our workshops aim to:

  • Foster connection and shared joy

  • Encourage self-expression and creative confidence

  • Support emotional resilience and mental wellbeing

  • Offer inclusive access for all ages and abilities

Every project is designed with care — blending artistry, empathy and play to create experiences that uplift, inspire and heal.

Circus Play

A joyful, dementia-friendly session facilitated by Ophelia — a charming female clown and collector of all things circus.

From her magical trunks and suitcases, participants are invited to unpack a treasure trove of circus memorabilia — sparking conversation, laughter and nostalgia. Together, we play with puppets, explore costumes, share stories, and even have a go at some light circus skills!

Designed especially for Dementia Cafés and community settings, Circus Play is an interactive pop-up installation performance that combines sensory play, reminiscence, storytelling, dressing-up, music and a touch of magic. It’s a celebration of curiosity, memory and human connection — where joy is shared and imagination takes centre stage.
